Insect Order Diversity Collection

Insects are the largest and most diverse group of organisms on Earth with the number of described species currently reaching over 1 million species. However, most estimates predict the actual number may exceed 20 million species! These phenomenal creatures constitute about 75% of all described animal species and are incredibly abundant, yet often overlooked. Insects are found on land, in water and in air in nearly all habitats and all continents including Antarctica.

Insects create the biological foundation for all terrestrial ecosystems. They cycle nutrients, pollinate plants, disperse seeds, maintain soil structure and fertility, control populations of other organisms, and provide a major food source for other taxa.

This diversity collection comes with a representative from the 28 unique insect clades we have currently available within the BioQuipBugs collection. This comprehensive kit serves as an excellent teaching collection to highlight arthropod biodiversity or as a great reference for personal collections.

Pinned specimen collections are sold in riker-style frames to protect the specimens while being handled, but still allow their easy viewing by students.
