Haematopinus asini
The main clinical sign of louse infestation is pruritus, manifested by biting at the flanks, kicking and stamping, restlessness and irritability, and rubbing against objects. This results in an unkempt appearance, alopecia, scaling, abrasion, and even secondary infection, if pruritus is severe.
