Bhutanitis lidderdalii ocellatomaculata EXTINCT subspecies

This butterfly subspecies was confined to Doi Chiang Dao, Chiang Mai, Province, Thailand. However, it is now be extinct due to a large-scale forest fire that destroyed its habitat in 1983. This subspecies has unfortunately not been seen since. 

This male specimen was collected 17th August 1979, only a month after the original type specimens were collected (http://yutaka.it-n.jp/pap/10010020.html).

This specimen was recently pinned and comes with its original envelope it had been papered in since 1979! 

Unfortunately, due to CITES this specimen can only be shipped within the United States.
