Agricultural Pests Teaching Collection

Agricultural pests are one of our most significant competitors for food, costing the agricultural industry roughly $120 billion dollars in damages and losses annually. It is estimated that between 720 and 811 million people in the world faced hunger in 2020 due to food insecurity, of which agricultural pests played a significant role in this issue.

Understanding the insect-plant interaction is made easier with the BQB Agricultural Pest Kit which includes 62 examples of the most significant agricultural pests within North America, though thanks to anthropization many of these species are found globally. Therefore, the included specimens help to illustrate arthropod species plaguing agriculture, regardless of locality.

This kit serves as a visual educational tool to better inform students entering the world of pest management as well as working professionals in what to look for in the field and to aid as a reference collection to ease identification.

Kits are available as packaged in alcohol vials or pinned (although both kits include some specimens that are slide mounted as well). Pinned kits are sold in glass faced, riker-style frames to protect the specimens while being handled, but still allow their easy viewing.

–Papered collections are available to ship quickly as these do not require additional preparation time.

–For mounted specimen collections, because of how many specimens need to be pinned, please allow 3 months for us to pin, dry, and label all specimens for you. Mounted specimen collections come mounted in riker-style displays for easy viewing by students.
